Heart of the Matter

Jazz pianist Neal Thornton and opera singer Leilani Barratt have been performing programmes of 'Classical Jazz Cabaret' since 2019. Their first collaboration combined Broadway songs by Gershwin and Jermone Kern with ‘jazzy’ reworkings of classical pieces by Poulenc and Satie, and was received with great enthusiasm. They called themselves "Heart of the Matter', to reflect their individual, heartfelt arrangements of both jazz and classical music.
