Steve Waterman
Trumpet
Steve is one of the top British jazz trumpet players both at home and on the international scene. He began his career while studying at Trinity College Of Music, and since then has worked regularly on the British, European and International jazz scene.
Waterman leads a quintet and an 18-piece jazz orchestra, and has recorded several critically acclaimed albums, including "Buddy Bolden Blew It" and "Our Delight". He has collaborated with many prominent jazz musicians such as John Surman, Carla Bley, and Jeff Hooper. As a composer, Waterman has had numerous commissions, ranging from small group pieces to big band compositions. He has also co-authored a highly acclaimed jazz trumpet tutor book, "The Jazz Method for Trumpet", with John O'Neil. In addition to his performing and composing career, Waterman is deeply committed to jazz education. He holds teaching positions at Trinity College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, among others. He also conducts masterclasses and workshops worldwide. Waterman's contributions to jazz have been recognized with an honorary ARAM from the Royal Academy of Music in 2004.
