Battersea's very own Pete Lukas, AKA Bari Mainly Low, will be bringing his quartet to St Mary's for a night of jazz standards and lively bebop. He will be backed by the up-and-coming rhythm section of the Hugo Jennings Trio. Doors open at 7:30pm, with music starting at 8pm, and there will be a full bar with refreshments available.

Lineup: Pete Lukas—baritone sax, Hugo Jennings—piano, Lorenzo Morabito—bass, Louis Brown—drums

A mainstay on the London jazz scene for many years, Pete Lukas has performed in a wide variety of settings alongside many of the biggest names in British and worldwide, including Steve Fishwick, Leon Greening, and New York baritone saxophonist Gary Smulyan. Over the years he has played alto and tenor saxophone, but his main horn is the baritone sax which he plays with a gutsy full sound reminiscent of his main influence, Pepper Adams

“He blows the hard bop tune with ferocity without letting the pace slip pass by some interesting ideas”—allaboutjazz

Hugo Jennings is a jazz pianist, singer and bandleader, orchestral conductor, teacher, and music curator. He has established himself as a respected name on the London jazz scene, through his playing, knowledge of the history of the music, and his work as founder and director of the highly successful Battersea Jazz Festival. His music is inspired by Barry Harris, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, Cedar Walton, Thelonious Monk, the Great American Songbook, and a variety of other jazz and classical composers. He has led his eponymous trio, alongside Lorenzo Morabito and Louis Brown, for nearly four years.
