Jazz at St Mary’s makes its return on Friday 25th September with a night celebrating one of the foremost names in jazz history: Nat King Cole. Doors open at 7:30pm for an 8pm performance. There will also be a bar selling refreshments.
Though he is now known primarily as a singer, Nat King Cole was one of the finest pianists in the genre’s history. His 1940s trio featuring guitarist Oscar Moore and bassist Wesley Prince was Capitol Records’ highest-selling trio of the decade, and the group left a treasure trove of hits, lesser-known gems, and original compositions.
