Cannonball Adderley’s Fiddler on the Roof
The stunning World Heart Beat concert hall in Embassy Gardens will host a special night celebrating the music of Cannonball Adderley, one of the great musicians of jazz history, and in particular his album featuring the music from “Fiddler on the Roof”. Best-known for his soul jazz hit “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”, written by Joe Zawinul, as well as his appearance on Miles Davis’s “Kind of Blue”, Adderley was one of the foremost saxophonists and bandleaders of the 1950s and 60s. His album, “Fiddler on the Roof”, features energetic and beautiful interpretations of music from the famous musical, including tunes such as “Tradition”, “To Life”, “Matchmaker”, and many more.
Pianist Hugo Jennings will lead a band of some of the very best musicians in London jazz as they perform arrangements from the album as well as other tunes and arrangements from various Cannonball Adderley bands.
