place St Mary’s Church, Battersea St Mary's Church, Battersea, Battersea Church Road, London SW11 3NA, UK expand_more

Joe Williams was one of the greatest jazz singers in the history of the art form. His rich baritone, combined with his elegance and humour both on stage and in the recording studio, allowed for him to have a long career in which he sang with some of the biggest names in jazz, such as Count Basie, Benny Carter, Harry "Sweets" Edison, and Ella Fitzgerald.

Singer Hugo Jennings will be joined by some of the very finest jazz musicians in the country—Mátyás Gayer on piano, Mátyás Hofecker on bass, and Robbie Ellison on drums—to pay tribute to some of the great music that Williams left behind. This all-star rhythm section have already left a huge mark on the jazz scenes in both London and Europe alike, and will help create an evening of lively swing mixed in with beautiful ballads.

Tickets are £5 (under-16s go free) and audience members are welcome to bring their own refreshments. There will be no bar at this performance. Doors open 7.45pm.
